ABERDEEN MUSIC TUITION
Music Tuition For All Ages And Abilities
ABOUT US
Aberdeen Music Tuition was founded by ex-Bruce Millers music shop tutors Yvonne and Rod Stewart a few years after the music shop closed down in 2011. Yvonne graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Education (hons) degree in Music and is a qualified secondary school music teacher who has taught privately for 28 years. Rod is a professional musician, tutor, writer and producer. He spent 16 years working in London as a session bassist and has a wealth of knowledge on live performance.
Between them they offer tuition on piano, keyboard, clarinet, theory, bass guitar, guitar and beginner ukulele.
Drum tuition is provided by Stuart Rennie. Stuart has 19 years of teaching experience and has tutored many youth/community project groups within the city. Stuart is a highly experienced performer with 28 years of playing live. Please note, drum tuition takes place from an alternative location due to noise consideration.
All tutors are PVG checked and have up-to-date certificates. Yvonne holds an SCQF Level 6 certificate in emergency first aid at work.
THE STUDIO
We teach in a building absolutely steeped in musical, theatrical and cinematic history - the offices of what used to be The Capitol Theatre on Union Street. The Capitol opened in 1933 and was Aberdeen’s most luxurious venue, with a capacity to seat around 2,100 people. Many famous acts played there including Queen, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, U2, The Smiths and Johnny Cash. You can still see memorabilia including framed gig posters of visiting artists and bands in the corridors.
