ABERDEEN MUSIC TUITION

Music Tuition For All Ages And Abilities

ABOUT US

Aberdeen Music Tuition was founded by ex-Bruce Millers music shop tutors Yvonne and Rod Stewart a few years after the music shop closed down in 2011.  Yvonne graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Education (hons) degree in Music and is a qualified secondary school music teacher who has taught privately for 25 years.  Rod is a professional musician, tutor, writer and producer.  He spent 16 years working in London as a session bassist and has a wealth of knowledge on live performance.

Between them they offer tuition on piano, keyboard, clarinet, theory, bass guitar, guitar and beginner ukulele.

Drum tuition is provided by Stuart Rennie.  Stuart has 15 years of teaching experience and has tutored many youth/community project groups within the city.  Stuart is a highly experienced performer with 25 years of playing live.  Please note, drum tuition takes place from an alternative location.

All tutors are PVG checked and have up-to-date certificates. Yvonne holds an SCQF Level 6 certificate in emergency first aid at work (2023).

THE STUDIO

The studio is located on the top (third) floor of a lovely large 1890s building at the corner of Union Terrace across from the library. The building does not have lift access, so there are a number of stairs. Our teaching rooms are spacious and have good resources, sheet music and equipment.  We don’t piano share between the tutor and student; there are two digital pianos in the room making teaching more interactive, comfortable and duets easier.  We make use of the latest technology in lessons and can provide additional video and audio support for each lesson we teach to enable students to maximise their practising at home.

Finding us is easy as we are located in the city centre at 44 Union Terrace.  The closest public car parks are on Golden Square (3 min walk away), Denburn (4 min walk) and Chapel Street (7 min).
